Mr. Gilbert’s practice is focused on family law, municipal and public entities law, estate planning, land use, and general litigation.  Born in 1963, he graduated from the University of Missouri law school in 1991.  He served as an Assistant Attorney General for a decade, where he litigated professional licensing cases and environmental claims throughout the State of Missouri, and served as general counsel for Missouri’s Dam and Reservoir Safety Council,  Water Well Drillers’ Board, Oil and Gas Council, and Veterinary Medical Board..  He practiced with a defense firm, focusing on construction litigation, before returning home to join the firm of Harris & Harris, in 2005.  He is a past-president of the Johnson County Bar Association.  An avid rock climber, Mr. Gilbert also has served as a Board Member and the Mid-South Regional Coordinator for The Access Fund, in Boulder Colorado, where he was actively engaged in recreational land-use issues with local, state, and federal agencies.
